You don’t chase goals, you chase fog! You never have to chase a goal all you have to do is the daily minimum action. And then the goal will complete itself regardless of whether it takes 6 months or 2 years. This happens whether or not you believe in yourself and whether or not you “feel” like anything is happening. When ppl say effort does not betray you they’re not kidding. For every goal you have you need to create a system to live by in your day to day. This “system” = the tasks that will bring about your goal when combined with self-forgiveness, patience, and consistency. Make your goals tangible by bringing them closer to you. Break down your year into three month periods. I go further and plan for 4 weeks of tasks at a time. You don’t master a year, you master a day. You need to understand your schedule. I was never able to go to the gym five days in a row until last month. Last month I went to the gym five times a week for the entire month. Because I didn’t say anything like “I want to be more fit” I said “I’m going to go to the gym from Monday to Friday every day at 1:30pm for a minimum of 30 minutes.” It didn’t matter to me what I did at the gym. Some days I felt like putting in more work than other days. But I had to stick to my minimum action. This year one of my resolutions is to save X amount of money because I’ve never actively tried to save my money but I want to build my financial competence this year. If my goal is to build financial competence…. My minimum action is to put X amount of money into my savings account every single time I get a paycheque. Competence builds competence! Give yourself three months of pure effort and forgiveness for mistakes and then if nothing feels better or is happening after three months feel free to say it’s not working and try another method. The big secret to accomplishing your goals is by not being overwhelmed by the glitz of the “goal” itself but by looking at the system behind your goal. You need to know the minimum daily action that will take you where you need to be
Dom 😔 I really need some of that goal chasing energy. I just never seem to follow through
